Siebente ATHEA Konferenz

Looking beyond borders: Global health economics
Wien, 23. & 24. Februar 2023

In most European countries with their highly developed healthcare systems and ageing populations, communicable diseases were of little concern for public health, authorities and researchers compared to their non-communicable counterparts. This changed with the COVID-19 pandemic, which had an impact on societies and health systems world-wide and demonstrated most vividly that health systems do not exist independently of each other. As this year’s general conference theme, we therefore aim to have a look beyond the borders of Europe and see what health economics can contribute to these countries. In order to gain a better understanding of the field, we will organise a thematic stream and invite experts as keynote speakers.

We are happy to announce two well-known keynote speakers:

  • Rodrigo Moreno-Serra, professor for Global Health at the University of York
  • Janina Steinert, professor of Global Health at the Technical University of Munich’s School of Governance and Research Associate at the University of Oxford

As in previous years, submissions for presentation are welcome in all fields of health economics and health policy, including long-term care, and are not restricted to the conference topic.
