SOCIAL POLICY ANALYST
Location: Vienna, Austria
Starting date: 1st of April, 2019 (commencement date subject to change) for a duration of one year, with the perspective of prolongation to unlimited contract upon satisfactory performance and with career and tenure track.

• In-depth Austrian AND international comparative research on long-term care and/or health systems, including policy analysis on workforce, system governance, equity and quality of care.
• Carry out qualitative research on patient/user/informal carers outcomes and processes in long-term care and/or health in a national (Austria) AND international comparative research context.
• Carry out retrieval, compilation and interpretation of secondary data on health and long-term care systems in an international comparative perspective.
• Contribute to project acquisition including identifying appropriate funding opportunities and designing and drafting of research proposals (in both English and German).
• Contribute to the coordination, management of and communication with national and international networks of researchers and teams of experts.
• Contribute to the organization of meetings and to the dissemination of findings at national and international events or through high quality reports and peer-reviewed journals.
• PhD (Post-Doc) or Master’s Degree (however, in the latter case at least five years of additional work experience are required) in Sociology, Economics, Social Policy, Psychology or social sciences. Experience in applied project work is in any case an asset.
• Team spirit and ability to work in a multicultural work environment on a range of interdisciplinary research projects in the area of health, long-term care and social policies.
• Native or fluent German speaker (essential condition) AND good communication skills and fluency of English (oral and written); knowledge of other European languages would be an asset.
• Proven expertise of the Austrian long-term care and/or health systems, including their organisation, trends, and policy developments, including recent reforms and policy debates; Very good knowledge of health and long-term care policy at the European Union level.
• Excellent methodological skills in qualitative (e.g. content analysis, participatory research, case study) and/or mixed methods and proven experience with relevant analytical software. Additional knowledge of quantitative methods would be an asset.
• Experience of applied research in the relevant fields with a proven record of carrying out own research projects. Experience in acquisition and project management (small or medium-sized teams).
• A track record of publications (peer-reviewed articles or/and policy-oriented papers and reports) will be considered.
