Job Title: Senior Researcher (Postdoc or Senior Postdoc) in Health Economics

As part of the ongoing development, the Department of Health Economics (DHE), Centre for Public Health, Medical University of Vienna is wishing to appoint a senior (postdoc) researcher in health economics. The position is full-time, fixed-term until 31 December 2020 in the first instance and can be filled immediately. Salary and terms of employment are according to the MedUni Vienna collective contract (minimum Euro 3711.10 14x per year). The working language at the Department is English.
The DHE has a wide range of funded international and national research projects including the recently started PECUNIA H2020 project. The position holder will undertake literature reviews, design and run health economic projects including economic evaluations, costing studies and outcome and health services research-related projects, and apply econometric and economic evaluation modelling. He/she will ensure their successful completion and the dissemination of study results. He/she will be expected to be familiar and apply existing methods in health economics, further new methodological approaches, develop his/her own research interests, prepare grant applications and publish research projects in high quality, peer-reviewed journals. He/she will advise and supervise junior colleagues and students and contribute to the departments growing teaching activities. Applicants should have a PhD/DPhil (or about to complete it) in Health Economics or a related discipline. They should have extensive experience in data analysis and possess strong IT and quantitative skills such as statistics, econometrics, evidence synthesis, and decision modelling. Previous research experience in health economics (preferably in economic evaluation) and a track record of peer-reviewed publications are essential.
Applicants should have excellent written and spoken English and a working knowledge of German. Additional requirements include enthusiasm, self-motivation, being a team player, ability to work independently, and managing multiple projects and completing work to agreed deadlines.

Job Title: PhD candidate in Health Economics
Contract type: Fixed-term for 3 years

As part of the ongoing development, the Department of Health Economics (DHE), Centre for Public Health, Medical University of Vienna is looking for a PhD-candidate in Health Economics to work on a European project on the physical comorbidity costs of mental health disorders which is conducted in collaboration with the London School of Economics and Political Science and the ECNP. The position is fixed-term for three years and can be filled immediately. Salary and terms of employment are according to the collective contract (30h, Euro 2095.95, 14x per year). The working language of the Department is English.
Relevant work includes conducting literature reviews, epidemiological and he alth economic data collections, cost analyses and modelling. The position holder will overlook the day-to-day running of the project, analyse the relevant data, and develop and disseminate the study results including peer-reviewed publications. He/she will be expected to acquire and apply existing methodological approaches in health economics and will be supported in developing own research interests in the field. The position holder will also have the opportunity to register and complete the Doctoral Programme in Public Health at the Medical University of Vienna alongside the project.
Applicants should have a topic relevant masters degree, preferably in health economics or a related discipline (e.g. economics, public health). Equivalent demonstrable training and research experiences may be also considered. They should possess strong data analysis (Excel, SPSS, Stata or equivalent) and quantitative skills (statistics, econometrics). Applicants should have excellent written and spoken English and a working knowledge of German. A record of previous research publications is positively valued. Additional requirements include enthusiasm, interest in multidisciplinary research, skill development and team work, and the ability to manage projects to agreed deadlines.
