Fünfte ATHEA Konferenz

Improving efficiency in healthcare systems
Wien, 28. Februar 2020

Digital solutions in healthcare as well as personalised medicine are expected to rapidly change the way healthcare is delivered. This will require major adaptions by the system and consequentially, reallocation of resources. Due to demographic change, overall healthcare expenditures are likely to continue to rise. Healthcare systems therefore need to know where efficiency gains can set free means for reallocation, and the expected abundance of new services needs to be evaluated in order to separate the wheat from the chaff.

However, as in medicine, diagnosis is just the starting point. Agents on all levels of the healthcare system, i.e. patients, professionals, payers and policy makers, are exposed to numerous incentives that impact their decisions. In order to reorganise healthcare delivery, policy makers need to understand what hinders or furthers the use of new technologies and superior ways of healthcare delivery and how these incentives can be made more compatible with overall system goals.

The fifth ATHEA conference will reflect on this line of thought with two keynote lectures and special sessions on the conference day, 28th of February 2020.

We are happy to announce two renowned keynote speakers:
